Invitation: 1st Annual Ping Pong Tournament at Spin SF
Due to the postponement of GDC, and out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to postpone the party, and transform this into a digital event! While we can’t offer free drinks, we will have the next best thing. Stay tuned for an announcement in the coming weeks.
The Tournament
If you’re a game developer, you don’t need us to tell you that the Game Developers Conference is coming up. From Tuesday, March 16th, to Friday, March 20th, GDC packs a years’ worth of industry knowledge, meetings, and events into a single week. If you need a break from the end-to-end, industry-shaping talks and events, PubNub, Disruptor Beam, and Two Hat have you covered with our 1st Annual Ping Pong Tournament at SPIN SF, San Francisco’s iconic ping-pong bar.
On Wednesday, March 18th, not five minutes’ walk from Moscone Center, you’ll find a full-fledged ping-pong tournament (and party). From 6:00-9:00 pm, come hang out with us, beat your friends (and enemies) on the ping-pong table, and unwind from the first full day of GDC talks. The night will feature an open bar, free food, a DJ, swag giveaways, and grand prizes for the night’s winners.
The Prize
Here at PubNub, we’re serious about gaming. The winner of the ping-pong tournament will win $500. ‘Nuff said.
But wait, there’s more. PubNub powers three essential areas of multiplayer games - chat, game functionality, and social features. Two Hat provides a robust, AI-powered content moderation platform that goes beyond filtering. For this event, we’re collaborating on a special, custom app that will track key tournament stats and feature open, party-wide chat. With a real-time dashboard and chat powered by PubNub, and a profanity filter powered by Two Hat, the tournament app will let everybody, even those on the sidelines, participate in the tournament drama.
Whether you want to go paddle-to-paddle, test yourself against a cutting edge profanity filter, or just unwind from GDC, we’d love to see you. All GDC attendees, ping-pong ninjas, and game developers are welcome. The tournament has limited spots, so visit the event page, sign up, and get into the tournament!
